From be839b36254bfa3129fe7fad6138432c583723f6 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Cody Boone Ferguson <53008573+xexyl@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Fri, 14 Jun 2024 11:50:29 -0700 Subject: [PATCH] Mostly finish bin/README.md Usage for scripts where the usage was missing added, even if that's just that it is used in another file. The script links have been changed to use %%REPO_URL%% for the GitHub syntax highlighting. Some other files have also been changed to this. Other changes were probably made too. Links still have to be checked but this has to be done next time. --- bin/README.md | 471 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++-------------- bin/index.html | 388 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++------------ 2 files changed, 614 insertions(+), 245 deletions(-) diff --git a/bin/README.md b/bin/README.md index b529931cf..a6442d8e3 100644 --- a/bin/README.md +++ b/bin/README.md @@ -11,8 +11,67 @@ repo](https://github.com/ioccc-src/temp-test-ioccc). ## [bin/](index.html) tools +All tools in this directory support a number of options that can be used to get +help, diagnose problems, see progress etc. These options are as follows: -### [all-run.sh](%%DOCROOT_SLASH%%bin/all-run.sh) +### Get help / usage string of a tool + +If you need to remember the syntax of the tool or get certain notes about +different options, you can use the `-h` option. + +For instance if you want help on the [all-run.sh](index.html#all-run) tool +from the root directory, you would do: + + +``` + bin/all-run.sh -h +``` + + +### Set verbosity level of a tool + +If, however, you want verbosity, say for debugging purposes or to see what is +going on more, you should use the `-v level` option. For instance if you wish to +see what is going on with the +[quick-readme2index.sh](index.html#quick-readme2index) tool, you might do: + + +``` + bin/quick-readme2index.sh -v 3 +``` + +to set the verbosity level to `3`.
