Instead of the original code scanning for https (which it did not) I
made the version that does an alt code. This should have been done
originally but I did not think about it at the time quite unfortunately.
Still it would be nice to be able to use https with it.
I noted a way that one might be able to get it to work - stunnel, though
it's been years since I've used it so it might not be a solution to the
problem.
Updated .gitignore with files in source/ subdirectory in case configure
is run.
To make sure that make from source/ works I copied the mynx.c to the
source/ directory. I guess I could have updated the configure script but
that seems like it would take more effort than it would be worth.
Format fix README.md.
Though this will not work as is I have changed the code to scan for
https as well (it exited before). This is so if someone comes up with a
clever command line to make it work it can. A secure connection has to
be established before http commands can be given but now it at least can
connect (though it's been a while since I've played with sockets so
maybe I'm forgetting some detail - one does have to specify the port but
I gave an example in the README.md file for that).
In the README.md I pointed out that one has to specify http:// (or else
https though with the caveat noted above). I also explained how to
specify an alternative port.
I also noted the https issue in the bugs.md file in the INABIAF section
('it's not a bug it's a feature').
As well I changed the try command in the entry README.md file to refer
to a page that does not use https as trying it on the ioccc website
(what it used to) will just return a 301 error.
The 2020 winners are hinted it, but the source code is not there,
nor are the hints. Someone could look into the HTML and
see what was commented out, but that is not a problem because
WHO won is known and the name of their AWARD is known already.
Moreover a number of the winners have talked about what their
entirs do, so the commented out spoiler text is not a bit problem.
One will find HTML commented out with:
<!-- XXX remove when 2020 is ready
2020 links here
XXX remove when 2020 is ready -->
The "XXX remove when 2020 is ready" string is found at the
start and end comment blocks. Again, soneone could read
what was commented out, but that is OK since most of that
information is known or can be known. The following files
have such HTML comment blocks in them.
./winners.html
./years-spoiler.html
./years.html
In addition, ./all/summary.txt was modified to not
include the 2020 entries for the momemt.
The 2020 winner code AND write-ups are NOT part of this set.
p.s. The all/all.tar.bz2 does not contain the 2020 source code (yet?).
