Used the following script to check for warnings
not silenced via ${CSILENCE}:
```sh
find ???? -mindepth 1 -maxdepth 1 -type d | while read dir; do
(cd "$dir"; echo =-=-= "$dir" =-=-= ; csilence -v 1 clobber all ; echo ; csilence -v 1 clobber alt)
done 2>&1 | less
```
The grep expression in particular was incorrect. This commit fixes the
problem. Note that it doesn't look for lower case letters as there are
legitimate dot files in the repo with lower case letters. Hopefully no
system will leave lower case file sockets lying about (though for all I
know it's the entry deciding it - didn't look into it).
Of course the globs do not have a = at the end of the line; that's from
an aliased ls that shows different characters at EOL depending on the
file type.
I also explained how to delete these files assuming that glob pattern.
In the README.md this was done in the new INABIAF section which is where
it belonged in the first place.
The entry appears to leave sockets lying about in the current working
directory. Although undesirable this is not a bug it's a feature.
Updated bugs.md and the README.md file as well as the Makefile.
A useful thing I thought of that might be good to look at for other
entries that show notes in the Makefile is that it might be good (and in
this entry I did do it) to have the note _after_ compilation as it will
be more likely seen. In the case of entries that might not compile with
clang (due to some defects in it) it will have to be done with either ||
or else printed before the compilation (for instance in some of these we
have to say that one should use make alt for clang).
This will be added to the todo.md in a future commit.
We further deprecate the use of twitter.
In cases such as historic guidelines and rules, we add
a note about using Mastodon.
In cases where a tweet URL was used, we replace with
an Internet Archive link because twitter has announced
that accounts that are not used for a period of time
will be deleted.
We add a few missing deprecated_twitter information
to the author.numbers and author.cvs files.
We remove references to twitter handles (after making
sure that both author.numbers and author.cvs has the
deprecated_twitter information). When the "_README.md_"
files have their header information generated by
a tool, such deprecated_twitter data will not be present.
Format fixes.
Add warning that if the file is deleted it can lock any session
currently using the file where 'q' does not work and neither does
anything else.
There were many many README.md files with the wrong heading level for
different sections. These have been changed.
To help go through the changes it should be noted I used sgit and also
here is what is changed:
The 'Try', 'To build' and 'To run' lines have two '#'s. Some had one and
others had three.
An exception is that in 1984/anonymous/README.md for the alternative
code that had three '#'s. This is not consistent yet and it might be
that only two are desired. But for now that one at least has three.
Simply the Makefile header.
Refer to the //www.ioccc.org/bugs.md URL (that will eventually exist).
Now using CC BY-SA 4.0 License to how you may share and adapt the
Makefile.
In at least one case some -D flags had to be added to the Makefile.
Typo fixes and formatting fixes in some README.md files.
For the simply amazing 2019/karns I added a demo.sh which does a cat on
the two files (prog.c and maze) and then sleeps for two seconds then
runs the program then sleeps for two seconds then resets the terminal
(so the colours are messed up). This was added to the README.md file.
Several .gitignore files were added.
I'm aware that the graphics editing one does not now work under macOS
but I'm not sure if this is all versions so I just noted that it doesn't
seem to work with recent versions of macOS as I don't have a way to test
before Ventura (the current version).
The commit 00ae59cd47 had a
mistake that introduces changes to Makefiles for 1996 thru 2020
that should not have been included.
This change reverses these intermediate changes until
the given year's Makefiles are ready.
In particular the following fixes were made:
-MKFIFo= mkfifo
+MKFIFO= mkfifo
-ZIPGREp= zipgrep
-ZIPINFo= zipinfo
+ZIPGREP= zipgrep
+ZIPINFO= zipinfo
If it's not immediately clear what the problem is the last letter of the
variable names were in lower case.
As per discussions on GitHub the index.html and hint.html files should
be deleted in favour of README.md files (from any
.text/.txt/.markdown/.md files which will be turned into README.md in an
upcoming commit).
The 2020 winners are hinted it, but the source code is not there,
nor are the hints. Someone could look into the HTML and
see what was commented out, but that is not a problem because
WHO won is known and the name of their AWARD is known already.
Moreover a number of the winners have talked about what their
entirs do, so the commented out spoiler text is not a bit problem.
One will find HTML commented out with:
<!-- XXX remove when 2020 is ready
2020 links here
XXX remove when 2020 is ready -->
The "XXX remove when 2020 is ready" string is found at the
start and end comment blocks. Again, soneone could read
what was commented out, but that is OK since most of that
information is known or can be known. The following files
have such HTML comment blocks in them.
./winners.html
./years-spoiler.html
./years.html
In addition, ./all/summary.txt was modified to not
include the 2020 entries for the momemt.
The 2020 winner code AND write-ups are NOT part of this set.
p.s. The all/all.tar.bz2 does not contain the 2020 source code (yet?).
