Update createChannelEdge to take a testing handle, mark itself as a
helper, and call require.NoError for funding script generation.
All call sites now consume only returned values and no longer plumb
an immediately-asserted error value.
Replace remaining fatal-style assertions in graph package tests with
direct testify/require helpers. This simplifies control flow and makes
test intent clearer by using NoError, True/False, Len, Empty, and
Equal/EqualValues assertions.
Also remove FailNow-style patterns in favor of specific assertion
helpers.
Add a new HasChannelEdge method that takes a gossip version parameter
and returns only existence and zombie status, without timestamp data.
This supports both v1 and v2 gossip protocols.
The original HasChannelEdge method is renamed to HasV1ChannelEdge to
preserve v1-specific functionality for callers that need timestamp
information. All call sites are updated accordingly.
The SQL store implementation now handles both gossip versions, using
timestamps for v1 and block heights for v2 policies, with proper
reject cache support for both versions.
Extend ChannelEdgePolicy to support v2 channel updates by adding:
- Version field to track gossip protocol version (v1 or v2).
- LastBlockHeight for v2's block-height-based timestamps.
- SecondPeer flag to indicate which peer announced the policy in v2.
- DisableFlags for v2-specific channel disable signaling.
- ExtraSignedFields map for v2 extra signed TLV data.
Add version-aware methods:
- IsNode1() determines if the policy was announced by node_1, handling
both v1 (via ChannelFlags direction bit) and v2 (via SecondPeer).
- IsDisabled() checks disable status using ChannelFlags for v1 and
DisableFlags for v2.
- String() provides version-appropriate string representations.
The new fields use zero values for v1 compatibility (Version defaults
to GossipVersion1, LastBlockHeight to 0, SecondPeer to false). This
lays the groundwork for v2 policy support; a subsequent commit will
handle reading and writing these fields from/to the database.
This makes it clear what fields must/can be set for a V1 channel.
Introduce NewV1Channel constructor to create v1 channel edges with
proper initialization and validation. The constructor:
- Takes required fields (chanID, chainHash, node keys) as parameters
- Takes v1-specific fields (bitcoin keys, extra opaque data) via
ChannelV1Fields struct
- Accepts optional fields (capacity, channel point, features, proof)
via functional options (WithCapacity, WithChannelPoint, etc.)
- Validates that if an AuthProof is provided, its version matches the
channel version
This makes it clear which fields are required vs optional for v1
channels and prevents incorrectly initialized channel edges. All
tests and production code updated to use the constructor.
Also update it to more closely match the persisted version which has the
v1 and v2 only fields as optional.
Refactor ChannelAuthProof to support both v1 and v2 channel
announcements:
- Add Version field to distinguish v1 from v2 proofs
- Wrap v1-specific fields (NodeSig1/2, BitcoinSig1/2) in fn.Option
since v2 doesn't use them
- Add optional Signature field for v2's single schnorr signature
- Add constructor functions NewV1ChannelAuthProof and
NewV2ChannelAuthProof to enforce correct initialization
- Add getter methods (NodeSig1(), BitcoinSig1(), etc.) that safely
unwrap options, returning empty slices when not present
The IsEmpty() check is updated to handle both versions correctly.
Both stores validate v1-only for now.
And set it to V1 version everywhere.
Add a Version field to ChannelEdgeInfo to distinguish between v1 and
v2 channel announcements. Set it to GossipVersion1 for all existing
channels.
Both KV and SQL stores now validate that only v1 channels are
currently supported, returning an error for v2 channels. The KV store
automatically sets version to v1 when deserializing (since all
persisted channels in KV format are v1).
This versioning is essential for handling the different field
requirements and validation logic between v1 and v2 channels.
Use the new feature of Go 1.24, fix linter warnings.
This change was produced by:
- running golangci-lint run --fix
- sed 's/context.Background/t.Context/' -i `git grep -l context.Background | grep test.go`
- manually fixing broken tests
- itest, lntest: use ht.Context() where ht or hn is available
- in HarnessNode.Stop() we keep using context.Background(), because it is
called from a cleanup handler in which t.Context() is canceled already.
In this commit, we move the serialisation details of a channel's
features to the DB layer and change the `models` field to instead use a
more useful `*lnwire.FeatureVector` type.
This makes the features easier to work with and moves the serialisation
to where it is actually used.
Replace all usages of the "github.com/go-errors/errors" and
"github.com/pkg/errors" packages with the standard lib's "errors"
package. This ensures that error wrapping and `errors. Is` checks will
work as expected.
And delete the old MakeTestGraph function.
Here we need to update some of our unit tests to ensure that any updates
to existing nodes or channel policies have newer timestamps. This is so
that we don't violate our SQL DB constraints that prevent updates to a
node or channel policy record if the new update is not newer (has a
newer LastUpdate time) than the currently presisted record).
In this commit, we unify how all unit tests that make use of the graph
create their test ChannelGraph instance. This will make it easier to
ensure that once we plug in different graph DB implementations, that all
unit tests are run against all variants of the graph DB.
With this commit, `NewChannelGraph` is mainly only called via
`MakeTestGraph` for all tests _except_ for `TestGraphLoading` which
needs to be able to reload a ChannelGraph with the same backend. This
will be addressed in a follow-up commit once more helpers are defined.
Note that in all previous packages where we created a test graph using
`kvdb.GetBoltBackend`, we now need to add a `TestMain` function with a
call to `kvdb.RunTest` since the `MakeTestGraph` helper uses
`GetTestBackend` instead of `kvdb.GetBoltBackend` which requires an
embedded postgres instance to be running.
Remove the kvdb.Backend return type of the `makeTestGraph` helper. This
is in preparation for the helper being used to create a test graph
backed by a DB other than bbolt.
This commit is a pure refactor. We move the transaction validation
(existence, spentness, correctness) from the `graph.Builder` to the
gossiper since this is where all protocol level checks should happen.
All tests involved are also updated/moved.
In preparation for moving funding transaction validiation from the
Builder to the Gossiper in later commit, we first convert these graph
Error Codes to normal error variables. This will help make the later
commit a pure code move.
All the structs defined in the `channeldb/models` package are graph
related. So once we move all the graph CRUD code to the graph package,
it makes sense to have the schema structs there too. So this just moves
the `models` package over to `graph/db/models`.
This commit is a large refactor that moves over various responsibilities
from the ChannelRouter to the graph.Builder. These include all graph
related tasks such as:
- graph pruning
- validation of new network updates & persisting new updates
- notifying topology update clients of any changes.
This is a large commit but:
- many of the files are purely moved from `routing` to `graph`
- the business logic put in the graph Builder is copied exactly as is
from the ChannelRouter with one exception:
- The ChannelRouter just needs to be able to call the Builder's
`ApplyChannelUpdate` method. So this is now exported and provided to
the ChannelRouter as a config option.
- The trickiest part was just moving over the test code since quite a
bit had to be duplicated.
