fix bin/gen-authors.sh

Fix `bin/gen-authors.sh` to not issue invalid "</br>" HTML tags.

Changed `bin/gen-authors.sh` VERSION from "1.3.3 2024-04-13"
to "1.4 2024-04-15".

Run `make gen_authors` to perform the above and test under macOS.
