Fix wrong calculation of overshot amount which causes coin select
function to go into infinite loop. If overshoot amount is calculated
by subtraction of totalSatoshis and amtNeeded than on the second
iteration of loop amtNeeded already include required fee inside, which
causes continuation of the coin selection loop.
In this commit htlc channeldb representation have been augmented
with onion blob field, and (de)serialisaion functions have been changed
to make the onion blob persistant.
After addition of the retransmission logic in the channel link, we
should make the onion blobs persistant, the proper way to do this is
include the onion blobs in the payment descriptor rather than storing
them in the distinct struct in the channel link.
In this commit BOLT№2 retranmission logic for the channel link have
been added. Now if channel link have been initialised with the
'SyncState' field than it will send the lnwire.ChannelReestablish
message and will be waiting for receiving the same message from remote
side. Exchange of this message allow both sides understand which
updates they should exchange with each other in order sync their
states.
In order to be able to properly restart switch several times we should
have the sequential process of channel link stop. In other words if we
stopped the switch we should be sure that all channel links have been
stopped too. Addition of the goroutine during the force close was added
because of the deadlock:
Trace:
1. link:force_close_notification
2. link:wipe_channel
3. peer:switch_remove_link
4. switch:stop_link
5. link:wait <-- deadlock
This commit where added as a measure to avoid the panic during several
server simultanoius fault. The panic happened becuase *t.Testing
structure is not concurrent safe.
In this commit the reestablish message have been added, which serves as
channel state synchronization message. Before exchanging the messages
for particular channel peers have to send it to each other as the
first message in order to be sure that non of the updates have been
lost because of the previous disconnect.
In previous commits we have intoduced the onion errors. Some of this
errors include lnwire.ChannelUpdate message. In order to change
topology accordingly to the received error, from nodes where failure
have occured, we have to propogate the update to the router subsystem.
In this commit daemon have been changed to set the proper hooks in the
channel link and switch subsystems so that they could send and receive
encrypted onion errors.
Within the network, it's important that when an HTLC forwarding failure
occurs, the recipient is notified in a timely manner in order to ensure
that errors are graceful and not unknown. For that reason with
accordance to BOLT №4 onion failure obfuscation have been added.
In this commit BOLT#4 specification message have been added to the
lnwire package. This messsage is needed in order to notify payment
sender that forwarding node unable to parse the onion blob.
In this commit onion routing error from BOLT#4 have been added, the
initial error construction have been splitted on two parts: The first
part which contains the actual data will reside inside the lnwire
package because it contains all necessary function to decode/encode
the data. The second part obfuscation and hmac checking will resides
inside the lighting-onion package because it requires the key
generation.
The btclog package has been changed to defining its own logging
interface (rather than seelog's) and provides a default implementation
for callers to use.
There are two primary advantages to the new logger implementation.
First, all log messages are created before the call returns. Compared
to seelog, this prevents data races when mutable variables are logged.
Second, the new logger does not implement any kind of artifical rate
limiting (what seelog refers to as "adaptive logging"). Log messages
are outputted as soon as possible and the application will appear to
perform much better when watching standard output.
Because log rotation is not a feature of the btclog logging
implementation, it is handled by the main package by importing a file
rotation package that provides an io.Reader interface for creating
output to a rotating file output. The rotator has been configured
with the same defaults that btcd previously used in the seelog config
(10MB file limits with maximum of 3 rolls) but now compresses newly
created roll files. Due to the high compressibility of log text, the
compressed files typically reduce to around 15-30% of the original
10MB file.
This commit fixes an issue that would at times cause the htlcManager
which manages the link that’s the final hop to settle in an HTLC flow.
Previously, a case would arise wherein a set of HTLC’s were settled to,
but not properly committed to in the commitment transaction of the
remote node. This wasn’t an issue with HTLC’s which were added but
uncleared, as that batch was tracked independently.
In order to fix this issue, we now track pending HTLC settles
independently. This is a temporary fix, as has been noted in a TODO
within this commit.
In this commit additional test have been added which tests the ability
of Alice and Bob asynchroniously exchange the payment between each
other. This scenario will be higly frequent in the payment between
payment providers.
In order to not close the payment stream on payment error the additional
field have been added in payment response. Now error from stream Recv()
function means that something has happend inside the client and we unable
to process any payment farther, and error inside the payment response
means, that something wrong has happend with payment itself.
In current commit big shift have been made in direction of unit testable
payments scenarios. Previosly two additional structures have been added
which had been spreaded in the lnd package before, and now we apply
them in the lnd itself:
1. ChannelLink - is an interface which represents the subsystem for
managing the incoming htlc requests, applying the changes to the
channel, and also propagating/forwarding it to htlc switch.
2. Switch - is a central messaging bus for all incoming/outgoing htlc's.
The goal of the switch is forward the incoming/outgoing htlc messages
from one channel to another, and also propagate the settle/fail htlc
messages back to original requester.
With this abtractions the folowing schema becomes nearly complete:
abstraction

In this commit usage of the pending packet queue have been added.
This queue will consume the downstream packets if state machine return
the error that we do not have enough capacity for htlc in commitment
transaction. Upon receiving settle/fail payment descriptors - add htlc
have been removed, we release the slot, and process pending add htlc
requests.
In this commit pending packet queue have been added. This queue
consumes the htlc packet, store it inside the golang list and send it
to the pending channel upon release notification.
Step #5 in making htlcManager (aka channelLink) testable:
Combine all that have been done so far and add test framework for channel
links which allow unit test:
* message ordering
* detect redundant messages
* single hop payment
* multihop payment
* several cancel payment scenarios
In order to be able to use the DeriveRevocationRoot in the createChannel
function inside the htlcswicth package we need to make it public.
NOTE: The original lnwallet.CreateChannel function haven't been
sufficient as far it not takes the private keys as input.
add rhash to the payment descriptor when receiving the settle htlc in
order to be able to pass it during settle htlc packet generation and
later find the user pending payment by rhash without additional hashing.
Because processing of onion blob have been moved in another place we
could get rid of the variables which are not needed any more.
NOTE: pendingBatch have been replaced with batchCounter variable, but
it should be removed at all, because number of pending batch updates
might be counted by the state machine itself.
Step №4 in making htlcManager (aka channelLink) testable:
This step consist of two:
1. Start using the hop iterator abstraction, the concrete
implementation of which will be added later, basically it will we the
same sphinx onion packet processor, but wrapped in hop iterator
abstraction.
2. The RevokAndAck processing part have been replaced by the
"processLockedInHtlcs" function which implement the same logic, but make
it a bit simpler.
Such changes will allow as to get rid of the the unnecessary variables.
Short: such abstraction give as ability to test the channel link in the
future.
Long: hop iterator represents the entity which is be able to give payment
route hop by hop. This interface will be used to have an abstraction
over the algorithm which we use to determine the next hope in htlc route
and also helps the unit test to create mock representation of such
algorithm which uses simple array of hops.
Step №2 in making htlcManager (aka channelLink) testable:
Implement the ChannelLink interface which is needed to use it in pair
with htlc switch. With this commit channel link impelements interface,
but isn't able to operate properly yet.
In this commit all initial code which will be transformed into channel
link have been added. Rather than changing the in the same commit is
better to create the standalone commit, in order to see the changes
which have been applied to relocated code.
This commit gives the start for making the htlc manager and htlc switch
testable. The testability of htlc switch have been achieved by mocking
all external subsystems. The concrete list of updates:
1. create standalone package for htlc switch.
2. add "ChannelLink" interface, which represent the previous htlc link.
3. add "Peer" interface, which represent the remote node inside our
subsystem.
4. add htlc switch config to htlc switch susbystem, which stores the
handlers which are not elongs to any of the above interfaces.
With this commit we are able test htlc switch even without having
the concrete implementation of Peer, ChannelLink structures, they will
be added later.
Add hop id structure wich represent the next lnd node in sphinx payment
route. This structure will be removed when we switch to use the channel
id as the pointers to the htlc update.
In this commit we made state machine to be responsible for returning
proper available balance - amount of satoshi which we able to use at
current moment. This will help us in constrction channel link
abstraction.
In this commit severe bug have been fixed which allows the state of the
nodes to be desychnorinesed in the moments of high htlc flow. We limit
the number of the htlc which we can add to commitment transaction
to half of the available capcity. This change fixes the bug when
commimtment transaction on the verge of being full, in this case race
condition might occures and remote htlc will be rejected, but at the
same time they will be added on remote side, the same situiation will
happen with htlc we have added, which cause the commitment transactions
to be different.
In this commit waiting proofs array have been replaced with persistant
boltd storage which removes the possibility for the half proof to be
lost during half proof exchange.
In case of the situation when we receive remote announcement with
channel id which pointing out to unknown channel the announcement have
been silently rejected. Now such announcement will be added to the
waiting proof map.
Such solution has a serious drawback - by adding the announcement proof
without information about channel itself (that this announcement have
been received from the node eligible to sending it), we allow
overwriting the waiting proof map by `Eve` node.
Added the signer which will be needed in the funding manager to sign
the lnwaire announcement message before sending them to discovery
package. Also in the future the message signer will be used to sign
the users data.
Originally we adding the edge without proof in order to able to use it
for payments path constrcution. This method will allow us to populate
the announcement proof after the exchange of the half proofs and
constrcutrion of full proof finished.
In case if the channel shouldn't be announced to the rest of the network
the proof, which is needed to announce the channel, will not be
populated, fot that reason the ability to store the empty proof has
been added.
Change the name of fields of messages which are belong to the discovery
subsystem in a such way so they were the same with the names that are
defined in the specification.
In this commit announcement signature message has been added which is
needed when peers want to announce their channel to the rest of the
network. This message acts as half proof carrier, nodes exchanges
their half proofs with each other and after that they are able to
construct the full proof.
Add usage of the 'discovery' package in the lnd, now discovery service
will be handle all lnwire announcement messages and send them to the
remote party.
In this commit the routing package was divided on two separete one,
this was done because 'routing' package start take too much responsibily
on themself, so with following commit:
Routing pacakge:
Enitites:
* channeldb.ChannelEdge
* channeldb.ChannelPolicy
* channeldb.NodeLightning
Responsibilities:
* send topology notification
* find payment paths
* send payment
* apply topology changes to the graph
* prune graph
* validate that funding point exist and corresponds to given one
* to be the source of topology data
Discovery package:
Entities:
* lnwire.AnnounceSignature
* lnwire.ChannelAnnouncement
* lnwire.NodeAnnouncement
* lnwire.ChannelUpdateAnnouncement
Responsibilities:
* validate announcement signatures
* sync topology with newly connected peers
* handle the premature annoucement
* redirect topology changes to the router susbsystem
* broadcast announcement to the rest of the network
* exchange channel announcement proofs
Before that moment all that was in the 'routing' which is quite big for
one subsystem.

If an error occurs during, peer initialization then 'p' is nil. This
may cause a panic while accessing the peer's member
variables.
To avoid such panics, we now omit the call to `p.Disconnect`
and also directly access the `connmgr.ConReq` variable if it's
non-nil.
Add check that vendor directory is installed and if not we should run
glide install, also if additional flag '-i' is specified than we will
reinstall dependencies.
In this commit the initial implementation of revocation hash
generation 'elkrem' was replaced with 'shachain' Rusty Russel
implementation which currently enshrined in the spec. This alghoritm has
the same asymptotic characteristics but has more complex scheme
to determine wish hash we can drop and what needs to be stored
in order to be able to achive full compression.
