With commit fd483c2bed, all
try scripts now use:
```
MAKE=$(command -v gmake)
${MAKE:=make} CC="$CC" all >/dev/null || exit 1
```
to find `gmake(1)` and if not `make(1)` to make.
This commit updates the next and template try scripts accordingly.
Also rebuilt 2024/guidelines.html, 2024/rules.html (obviously
2024/index.html was also rebuilt).
The other ones were rebuilt because the markdown had 2025 (from 2024)
and it was not rebuilt. I noticed a lot of files have this problem (in
copyright). May I suggest sgit(1) to save you time? :-) (I would do it
but I don't want to cause a problem with any pull requests that might
be opened.
For fun I put in how many line changes there were in an example run
through the entire program from start to finish ('hell'). With 85 lines
(with 14 blank, some functions, #includes, #defines, some lines only
having a brace and possibly other lines like that) there were a total of
985 line changes (an extremely tiny fraction had the same line number
repeated once but that hardly matters).
Fixed typo in Judges' remarks (inspired by Oregon Trail not inspired by
Oregon).
Added note about another version I submitted - helps prevent having to
update the files removing any reference to it.
Updated .gitignore (due to a file one of the scripts generates).
Rebuilt index.html and obfuscation.html.
'an successful' -> 'a successful'.
There is possibly another typo but I have to verify what the judges
meant.
Rebuilt index.html. I hope to make some reductions in text in the coming
days. I also have another fun update planned so people can see just how
wild the gotos are. I hope to do that sometime soon too.
Anders Kaare Straadt had two labels, one of them wrong.
Participants:
Anders_Kaare_Straadt: label straadt
Anders_Kaare_Straadt: label anders
Sebastian Macke: label macke
The fix is the following:
dir anders -> fix dir to macke and fix author
dir straat -> fix author
We swapped `2024/anders` and `2024/straadt` by accident.
Sorry (tm Canada 🇨🇦) about that!
We **SINCERELY APOLOGIZE** to both **Anders Kaare Straadt**
and **Sebastian Macke** for the mix up!
We normalized some of the `.gitignore` files for some
of the 2024 winning entries.
Rebuilt 2024 tar files.
Updated `sitemap.xml`.
Ran `make update` to perform the above.

Ran `make update` to perform the above.
new file: 2024/burton/.entry.json
We indent FAQ 10.6.1, added in a previous commit, in the
same way we indent 3rd level FAQ numbers. Also adjusted
the vertical whitespace around the FAQ in `faq.md` to
be consistent with the other FAQ sections.
Updated sitemap.
Ran `make faq sitemap` to perform the above.
It is not clear, as the FAQ shows for now, whether this works with just
desktop/computers or not - it is only possible to enable it on computers
(or if it's possible in mobile devices I did not see it though I only
checked with an iPhone).
This FAQ should probably be linked to in the guidelines later on as
right now it says that one should reload the feed as you do not get
notifications unless you are mentioned (assuming you have push
notifications enabled). As one of the pending changes post winners being
announced (02 August 2025 at 11 Pacific) is to clean up the guidelines,
rules and maybe the FAQ (that was rushed towards the end so as to not
delay IOCCC28 even longer) I have not done this.
Rebuilt faq.html. New image under png/.
FAQ version: 28.2.21 2025-07-31.
Added news for **2025-07-30** with the scheduled the date for the IOCCC
Awards Presentation and Source Code Reveal for IOCCC28 to be on 2025
August 02 11:00 (11AM) Pacific.
We add `make news` to the top level `Makefile.
Ran `make news timestamp` to perform the above.
We improve the text in the top level `social.html` page.
Added a number of missing files to the sitemap.
Changed `bin/gen-sitemap.sh` VERSION from "2.0.1 2025-04-28"
to "2.0.2 2025-07-30".
Ran `make social sitemap` to perform the above.
